Many children are ruined early in life by abuse. You poem makes me sad as it should. My heart aches for him weather he is real or not and that makes you a terrific poet.

In a mere 41 words you have captured the essence of what life is like for so many. "not a spine to stand and be good to himself," and as a child, the child knows not that he can have that spine some day.
