Baby Jesus
swaddled under star,
light of the world inhabits
his created world.
thirty years of privacy,
three years for mankind to see.
Mary hushes him
in his manger cradle bed.
Joseph with world on shoulders
listens to angels in dreams.
voyage with his family.
fed by him, by her he’s fed.
she’d give him words, he’s THE word.
a fulfilled promise
not just to Israel, hence
for all of humanity.
a bed of straw, sleeps.
what does the Christ babe dream of
or do his dreams fly?
answers to generations...
turning water into wine...
protected in mother’s arms.
her protection, salvation.
gifts brought to him, he’s the gift.
shepherds the first to bow down.
shall shepherds lead us in praise?
