Awaken
For every dream, there's a nightmare.
For every nightmare, there’s a story.
For every story, there's a teller.
For every teller, there’s a person.
Within every person, there’s a soul.
Within every soul, there’s a light.
Within every light, there’s darkness.
Within all darkness, there’s a nightmare.
Rather you’re looking at the sun beaming down on the flowers
Or watching from the back, counting the hours
If you’re dreaming of racing or flying
Or singing or spying
Rather you see the world in black and white
Or see every new thing as a source of delight
We all see the darkness, and we see it as true
I know this because I see it too.
The darkness in your head brings you nightmares
Maybe it’s speaking, or spiders or bears
You see when you close your eyes and you rest your head
You start to drift back into your head
You’ll remember that thing you did in 1st grade
You’ll remember you’ve got bills, yet to be paid
You’ll wonder how your ex could be so ignorant
You’ll wonder if it would change if you’d done something different.
But let’s all be honest, let’s open our eyes
This world may be scary, it may tell you lies
But I am awoken, I’ve moved past the grey
And I hope only the same for you one day.
