awaken

Awaken  in the pit of his stomach  an animalistic fear a dread of death The brain denies this  feeling, stoically accept  the inevitable  Yet, the fear persists waking him up at night Dark is the bedroom so cold widows have frost roses He walks about in the living room drinks a glass of water in the kitchen He goes back to bed but keeps  the night light on a mellow light gives him comfort  No, he is not alone in the vastness  of space
