Avoiding Amputation

I watched the sailfish spring from the sea

Had no wings, an enigma to me

Why in flight did it embark?

Pursuit by a great white shark

Its sail would soon be an amputee

Wow! What a poem! I have seen many sharks and they really scare me. When I was in the Navy we saw quite a few of them; especially when we threw the garbage over the side of our ship when at sea. I loved the sea, dolphins made me smile, sharks put fear into my very soul. Take care , have a blessed easter. Jancarl

I hope you don't see this first hand when you take that fishing trip. The shark would scare me to death. Good luck in Francine's contest. Best to you, Diane

Reads like a winner..Maybe there is hope that it escaped..If one stopped to think about it, there would be less going in the ocean to swim..Those sharks are out there along with many other species that bite, sting, and kill..Good luck in the contest...Sara

This is a wonderful limerick! You really captured the initial puzzlement and then the subsequent terror of what's going to happen. Poor fish! Nicely done. Good luck in the contest and thank you for your comments!
