Avenue of Life
As I walked the tree lined avenue of life
My eyes behold a wonderful sight
Birds with red breasts and colours galore
Sing and bathe in pools on the floor
The darkness disappears through the sunlit leaves
Changing their colour in the friendly breeze
The leaves on the floor are crackly and dry
Asking to be run through, I think I might try.
The flowers in the gardens are of many a hue
Their perfume drifts on the winds of time
Soon the flowers will fade but their seeds will be new
To bloom again another time
But my life is now, so I must remember the scenes
The beauty around me, the perfume, the sun
So when life is ending I can think back on these things
And say to myself, life was fun
