Notes About The Poem

Autumn's Reprieve

                        a park calm and hushed
                        autumn's crisp welcomed reprieve
                        cool shade for the lark
                        summer's cruel oppression lifts
                        an elm shrouded bench composed

The subdued quiet feel of early fall. Very nice

This is really peaceful and vivid! I love how you capture that quiet, refreshing feeling of autumn after a harsh summer. The imagery of the elm-shrouded bench is especially nice — it feels like a perfect little retreat in the park. Short but really atmospheric.

Hi Rowena, my mind settles upon a cool autumn day with a hint of melancholy when I'm in need of comfort and validation. Your response is most welcoming. Robert

I'd love to sit on the bench with the Lark "cool shade for the lark" my favorite line. The heat in the Northeast is has been quite something. A nice read I am happy to come across.
