Autumnal Lessons
Another yellow leaf came
spinning down
Shaken, detached and
Wind blown
To lie by other leaves
And acorns
During the season of fall!
The Oak stood bare
Bereft of all leaves
No shame, no care
Just branches and crease.
40 seasons it has seen
New leaves and acorn
Where old ones had been
Each year freshly born
After the fall.
The wisdom is not to despair
At the moment of loss
Happiness is seasonal
And may soon be gone
Sadness is the space
Where new hope is born
Like the new leaves
After the season of fall!
