Autumn Royal
A nightingale perches on a hillside,
Through its lilting notes, crimson the fields reap
As October sparkles on grasses dyed
When rising of dusk amber takes a leap--
No cycle wears such grandeur in one heap
That I smell ginger ! How its fragrant mist
Wafts upon my cheeks... dare I not resist.
Then pumpkin moon glitters on burnished trees ;
To ignite the wake of Fall’s jubilee
Where saffron leaves dovetail with a crisp breeze
Umber and orange lighting eve’s marquee :
Lo ! Bouquets spill their tangy potpourri
Enkindling mellow fire in my abode ,
Cinnamon the scent... Graceful, autumn’s load!
