Autumn leaves

Autumn leaves
And on its heels
A savage wind
Hunts its offspring
Pursuing their faint scent
Riffling the golden fields
The curtain falls
A slow darkness ensues
The lights dim
In stillness

Those short days are difficult to cope with. The world goes to sleep. I enjoy your poem's salute to autumn.

Sometimes, John, I'm confused as to how to respond to your poetry. I'm usually waiting for the punchline. Even when you write something seriously good about nature. I wanted to add another line at the end of this one.... SNOWBALL FIGHT!!! Forgive my moment of insanity.

Well,a bit of wordplay and viola......ze leaves leave thing Autumn with it...I consider any poem a rousing success if it can incur a moment of insanity in the readers mind
