A very dear friend gave me this little ceramic bird. I am dedicating this poem to Pamela.

Brown as a withered leaf
Crimson neckband with flashing wings of
winter taupe - bright green underneath.
Perched each day in the window’s bay
ever out of reach.
If I could bring you in
and teach your wild heart how to stay
every secret I hold would tell me
why you’ll fly away.
Autumn Bird stay here with me
and trill the notes to waken spring.
