GLOSSARY

exuvial: (adj) pertaining to or of the nature of exuviae (from Latin: ‘what is stripped’; exuo = ‘shed’, ‘strip’),  referring to the remains of an exoskeleton and related structures that are left of insects, etc, that have moulted.

fluvial: (adj) 1. Of, relating, or inhabiting a river or stream. 2. Produced by the actions of a river or stream.

induvial: (adj) (of a leaf, petal, or sepal) acting as induviae, decaying on the plant instead of falling off.

pluvial: (adj) 1 Of or relating to rain; rainy. 2. Marked or formed by abundant rain.

Cat's eyes, also known as road studs, are retroreflective safety devices used in road markings.

A night bathed in silent cocoon of snow replaces the days that were pluvial; it flurries against windows as wind blows. Like insects, warm days are exuvial. Few souvenirs in flowerbeds below: useless petals that are now induvial. In nearby depleted meadow, cows lowing; gathered for trek to higher fluvial. The wild geese test the air currents somewhere over a mountain range; destiny fated. Without group effort they’re going nowhere. Ride out Life’s storms; ideally mated. A dusty road that’s winding to elsewhere — reflective cat’s eyes on tarmac berated.
