Notes About The Poem

Atonement

Sunblood splashed on celestial canvas
Daytime answers drain away
Into the throes of unknown night
To penetrate her hope with pinion's teeth
Her lissome pride humbled by
His honor laid at her feet

Her lips too quick to besmirch
His offering of sacrifice
Her sojourn beneath the arch
Of firmament's eternity
Under a thousand eyes,
A thousand thoughts,
A thousand words,
For one apology

Until the dawn's mercy
Brings repose to her atonement
In the journey to forgiveness
There is more than one way home.
