At the Horizons Edge

At the horizons edge, I see the sun Setting over the water, when shadows come And foam turns gold, as the crashing waves run I see beauty, but there is sadness for some. A solitary figure standing on the shore As night descends, and the darkness surrounds What’s he feeling when he can see no more When gulls say goodnight, making no more sounds. Does his soul heal, as the water recedes Removing the pain of the day now past Does it bring him comfort, what a soul needs On a gentle breeze, a peace that will last? I wonder, what does he feel as he stands This silhouetted figure on the sands.
