Ashes (Repost)

More silences than soft embraces, now we're lost with little left to say; what used to be the flame of love has gone to ashes, pale and cold and gray. Stilted words and courtesies are all that seem to slip from our tired lips as quick the fount of memory fades, the final ember flickers now and dips.

Very compelling observation of the "Ashes" of lost love, Keith! I love the line: "Stilted words and courtesies...our tired lips." And indeed, falling out of love is a process that "flickers now and dips." Beautiful! Love, Carolyn

You have the soul of a true poet, and the language to back the meaning. This is a timeless story, happens to so many people. The thing for me is that there's actually a lot left to say, it's just met with an equal if not greater amount of fear of retribution.

This so heavy with loss...it carries with it the emptiness that could be speaking of death, or loss of love, of many things. Well done, Keith! ~ Carrie
