as we metamorphose

Line of inquiry:
“being mistook we burnt the book
thoughts rest, we dwell in our heart’s nest
touched by spirit, our body shook
by God’s light blest as we undressed”

as we metamorphose

light lingers all around the heavenly realm
one thinks white is boring - is snow?
and what of the brightest spirit,
is she rainbow, all colors bequeathed
at heaven’s behest?

the pages and pages, bound,
pulled from the un-dusty shelf
the fire tests each moment
not only by its result, but by
its heart. all works in flames,
but those in the palms of Christ
create gold, silver, and bronze

home is where we rest and dwell
we thought we were home on earth
that is the old earth and at our abode
some couldn’t step out of their nest
life had beat them up - figuratively,
sometimes literally. home is where we rest

our soiled clothes we left behind
when we saw the new set, we realized
we looked as if we’d been deep in mire

quite covered by euphoria, no longer
anxious, fearful, forgetful, forensic

the glow eclipses that of fairy dust
our feet forget themselves and walk
on water, on air, on clouds, wherever
for ever and ever. are lips can’t help
but praise our Creator in paradise

Kim, this is so well done. I love the punctuation--it's doing its job of guiding the audience through how to emphasize and read the lines. And the turns of phrases are so thoughtful. "our soiled clothes we left behind when we saw the new set" is absolutely haunting in the best way. Congrats on your win :)

We go through many realms and stages old thoughts, new thoughts, we dance, we jive, we move we sprint, then move, slower and slower, and somehow inevitably we all meet on the right path to Gods HOME, which leads through heaven. Blessings, Jennifer.

Dear Kim, I love how it explores themes of spiritual growth and transformation. The imagery is stunning, and the language is so rich and evocative. The line "our feet forget themselves and walk on water, on air, on clouds" gives me chills! It's like you're capturing the essence of faith and devotion in words. A brilliant write! Best, Anne

Kim, your poetry rises softly in thankfulness before settling sweetly into the mind. Your sharing of the vision of home and optimism is both emotional and reflective.

Powerful Kim. What we see here on earth pales in comparison to what awaits us in heaven.
