Around the Spindle
A babe, I raise my arms, stretching
To catch my life book, opening chapters
Amid my mistakes, I cry dried tears clinging
Youthful endurance running
Races not needed; ones needed squandered
Surrendered, hard won lessons
Teenage assurance, swagger sometimes
Stagger against a roadblock
Learning the keys to open barred doors
Adult larvae find freedom, eating truth and trust
From cocoon to explore shores oppressed
Tastes love, power, choices made, shattered hopes
Middle ground goes around the spindle
Chasing dreams, setting stakes in the ground
Fertile flower, barren emptiness
Waning years, freedoms found, glued anew
Seeing blossoms scatter in the wind
Closing shutters. Sending guilt aloft
Aged in a cask, left on a shelf of wisdom lost
Died up last memories, ripening smell
Lost my mind in my bodies shell
