Aprils Palette

April rides in on the tail of March’s winds whistling through the trees, filled with newborn greens. Harmony has returned to the fields as chipmunks play chase among the narcissus and tulips that dot the lawn, in colors of pink, yellow, lavender and white; a red cardinal sits upon the bird bath watching while a grey squirrel, hunting for his stash, chases away a snickering mockingbird. I notice the purple irises are just beginning to unfold their delicate blossoms, atop the greenery. April rains will soon leave vacated stems, but for now, I will bask in the suns bounteous rays and enjoy the chromatic flora, for I’ve waited months for this joyous moment.

The entry form for poems doesn't allow that in titles. Thanks, Rico.
