Another Trip Around the Sun

Another trip around the sun:
another turn of winter's night.
Another chance to see undone
these honest vows in conscience made.
Intentions pure, resolve forthright
but then in time, they all shall fade.

For some a boon, for some a bane
for others yet, a mere caprice:
another chance to drink champagne.
The young shall laugh, the old shall cry,
we all shall share a kiss of peace:
and hail another year gone by.

Another trip around the sun:
for some a boon, for some a bane.
