Angel and Candy
Searching for clarity,
relief and release,
I long for a spirit
to confirm internal peace.
I long for a blanket
to shelter my needs,
as do all the people
walking down all the streets.
But, I thought I saw an angel
walking down the avenue.
Stop, I silently begged,
I have need of you.
Lately I’ve been confused.
I don’t know what to do.
Could I please borrow
some comfort from you?
Through rain I followed her
down that dim avenue
and my heart held forth
its need for a clue.
I could be sitting in a cafe
on a perfect, sunny day
and still I would hope
that angel would look my way.
The vision turned, candy bar in hand
and I saw another human
who struggled to understand.
Still I wanted to hug her,
show her something grand,
give her some sort of sign
that for one desperate moment,
to me, she had been divine …
