And He Came Into Me

In the twilight of the evening in my virgin life as I lay within the slumber of my trust hearing opening doors that should be tightly locked with footsteps moved along by sordid lust and he came into me Touching places sacred in the sight of God coded in the hollow of my thighs parting columns with his hands so vile and hot teaching me to tell my mom sweet lies as he came into me I thought he was my mother’s lover till that night but disbelief is painful in its truth so much so dear to me was loss right there and then Does she know she loves a man that stole my youth? cause he came into me Angel of the day, seductress of the night, Mama never saw his colors true, Would she have believed me if I told her so? But shame inside is all I ever knew, when he came into me But you have loved me my dear one my sweetheart of the heaven's gaze Gone is the stain of a wounded soul and the spiritual is raised since you've come on to me 1/20/2021 Written in memory of Angel who wanted her story told.

Janis, a sad tale beautifully told. Reminds me of the Maya Angelou account she conveyed in her biography. Hard to read, but deeply touching in the elements of honesty and redemption. Congrats for being #1 in the Best New Poems list. Blessings ~ John

Hi Janis, It's a very sad but true situation for a lot of vulnerable children, being abused by a close family member. You penned it well and congratulations. Did she experience true love while alive or only after she was reunited with God at death?

I had hoped to convey this in the last verse. She was engaged to a wonderful man at the time of her death.

Such a moving story, glad you had the courage to write about it, even if it happened to a friend. Now maybe her soul will rest. Best

What a powerfully sad and moving write Janis, glad to hear it's not personal, and the person who's story it is has since deceased. What a sad tale, so much more common than we realize, and so many can't live with the shame. I guess congrats are in order as this is a winner, although a truly heartbreaking tale.

WoW! Janis, Your moving write brought tears to my eyes; it tugged the heartstrings. I can relate to this write very much. I, too, had had my innocence taken away by a vile act. But your last stanza to your powerful write was very impactful. Congratulations on your winning write. It's a winner more than you know. It was so kind and thoughtful of you to share her story- Alexis

Thanks but this is not a personal experience but a poem written from someone's relating a personal experience who is since sharing it with me, died. Thanks for your comments and support.

Heck Janis, I can feel the pain and tragedy through your heartfelt words and thankfully the love that shines in the final few lines. A brave, honest and (hopefully for you) a cathartic poem.

Not cathartic thankfully. This has been shared with me by someone now deceased. She would have wanted her story told.
