Anabel and I 1832
Today is like all others
Cranking the grinding wheel
I toil from sunlight until dark
I hunger when I get home
Looking for a decent meal
Alone I shall be on this night
The wife has chosen sleeping
Over cooking for me
She works more hours then I
Feeding the sheep gathering wool
I am at an old age our children gone
All we have are two horses and a barn
Our house is small and cozy
Just right for Anabel and I
Tomorrow it will be Saturday
Anabel and I are going for a ride
A picnic it will be to celebrate
75 marriage years
But now it’s time to sleep
Next to my sweet, Anabel
Until tomorrow when I write again
This journey will someday end
