An Unrequited Smile

This dude had a bad night --- Not since I was ten years old, as far as I remember, has any woman turned my head ‘cause - most the ones I’d meet Were terribly hard to look at, but - last night - at Rowdy’s Bar - I took a shot and tried my best to sweep one off her feet. I let her see me look her up and down - then caught her eye - and, oh, my God, if looks could kill, I swear that woman’s glare Would have done me in for sure, and it got down right tricky… with only very limited opportunities to stare…. To check that little heifer out, to see if she was shapely… if all the curves were wild enough - and where they need to be. But once I’d made my mind up she was worth a second try, I waited ‘til she once again was glancing back at me, Then blessed her with the biggest smile I’d thrown a girl in years. I figured she’d come runnin’, but that ornery little turd, Instead huffed off in an angry state, and as she stormed away, rather than throwing a smile back…she threw my ass the bird! She had to have been a feminist - the type that hates all men, ‘cause all I did was “check ‘er out”, then throw the skag a smile, And as far as lettin’ any woman turn my head again… Well…I can guarantee you, pal…it’ll be a damn long while! FYI: I'll be posting a bunch of my AUDIO files over the next few months, most from my 4 new AUDIO-CDs, along with many more text files from my several books of verse. (Only a few CDs and books left - 2-6-21). Because, as with most poets, it simply depends on the mood I’m in at writing time, my verse, as you’ll discover, varies greatly from lightheartedly comical pieces to meaningfully poignant works.
