An Ode To An Insidious Sensation

Beneath the translucent veil of placidity, emerged that sound
To all is pure evil forecasting the prelude of a prolonged agony
Of flashy tear drops falling from a man abandoning his captaincy
A voice gushing through blood to veins in a body utterly bound
With the zeal of a new couples tasting a love heartily profound
Never imagining their pampered sparkle would ever reach atrophy
A persisting whisper like the howls of a one thousand wolfhound

Driven by lust, the fervent fervour fatuously never faltered my heart
Desire has simply dyed my insidious sensation with colours agleam
With ease, the prey has fitly fallen into web not using a single dart
Night wiped the eyes of conscience, sanity swept in a sea of steam
For sweet sin never countenances evildoers to venerate the extreme
Bed saved its sheets for passers-by to err, the game began to start!

Hello Guru Jad - So much poetic expression to feast on, I read your poem multiple times. The phrasing that really is stuck in my mind is "A voice gushing through blood to veins..." Thanks for stopping by my poem! - Gail

Donna,, I agree with you... Sometimes we set certain taboos in our lives and it would need a great strength to cross them - regardless the fact that they may be wrong in the first place!! Thank you, Donna... All the best!

Good morning Guru, insanity I sense, but to endure this is a way that would make evil win which when called upon or brought upon waits for the giving in within the prey, i really got into this poem i picture a troubled person fighting the evil, best poem I've read today,.. XOXO Linda

Your use of alliteration is charming...sanity swept in a sea of steam....You're use of vocabulary is what has made this poem so interesting....that plus the hint of a person driven beyond reason...You have spun quite a web. ;)

Thank you Eileen! I love the use of figurative speech when they are needed to convey a certain message - or what I call: a second message :)... Have a great day my dear!
