Amidst the Ocean Breeze

a whisper of wind with the shell held to my ear i pretend to hear the sea as it speaks to me your voice falls somewhere within a gossamer melody i see time stand still as i flip through life's pages grabbing onto memories before they fade out i see the lifeless with wings drifting like gulls over seas i feel lost at sea like a ship with broken sail looking for the edge of land a familiar ground to welcome me in its warmth and feel your embrace again i taste ocean's mist as it lands upon my face mixing with the tears i've cried as each eye closed tight then faded away from life leaving me stranded, alone

Sandra, a lovely metaphoric poem in which the sea breeze is felt. ~ Sonia

I love the ocean and when we go to the coast for a long weekend the flat we go to is a stones throw from the sea. The thunderous sound of the waves in our wild African sea is deafening, the first night I cant sleep, but by the next it becomes and sounds almost like a lullabye! Your exceptionally emotive write is spectacular and I wish you all the best in the contest. You create intense imagery both within the ocean and on its shore. Only get my feet wet also! Hugs, Jennifer.

Thank you! I am a couple hours drive from the ocean and visit as often as I can. Last year I lived there in the off season for a bit and the ocean roar seemed much louder through fall. It was a nice sound to lull me to sleep :) hugs

Thank you Caren... the image spoke to me, though the sea is often my inspiration in poems, perhaps that helped guide me along :) hugs

Lovely piece Sandra, I've never read a Choka before, it sounds interesting! It's great if you live beside the ocean but like you don't take any chances with it.
