Always Yours

The handwriting became darker,
And I imagined your hands pressing upon the page,
Wavering whether to write your thoughts or not
Soon, sure, the wavering became conviction,
And in your mind you decided to write,
“Always yours”

Tears sprung from my eyes,
As convicted as your burdened letters

I condemned myself to love again,
How cruel the ink seeped into my marrow
To flitter and flutter upon mere words on a page
Words with promises, confessions, and affection
I could barely read through the gasps of my soul,
The screaming of my mind, and the bleeding of my heart
“Always yours” . . .

Do not inflict me like the plague, oh destroyer!
Do not soon crawl into these open arms
That would not dare push you away
I will love you till the days swallow me whole,
Till the light in you bellows cold with indifference!

We are words, my corresponding dear,
Deepening upon a page about to break
We are words, nothing more,
That are always,
Always Yours

Your ability to place feelings on a page is remarkable. I have to say that the poem embraces me and takes me to another time and place. It's your special magic. Your passion is strong and wonderful to experience, and you have a way of sharing you joy. It's a very sweet pill.

I feel this piercing pain too, everytime I need more from the sweetest, and most bruising affection I've ever known...your heart is so vivid in this poem that expresses an angry self reliancy that is trying to find it's place in a world of strange and powerful love to which I understand. I love how you recover from the pain, to be an explorer of this love destin for you. "I could barely read through the gasps of my soul..." J.A.B. A FAV!

Laura, your words affected me so deeply that I had to read it twice before commenting. Last night I read a note I'd been keeping...the hurt never completely goes away...always yours. I have to save this one, it's heartbreakingly wonderful.

There are nights when words spring upon me like an untameable tempest. So is love... It can be frightening and delightful, painful and hardly tolerable.. this is a special comment, Lin..thank you for your beautiful words. I too had been reading a dear note I have been keeping. sometimes the need is beyond mere words, where only raw tears exist as reality~Laura
