Alluring Autumn

World delighted with autumn tans, peppered with black walnuts, plentiful, and fine. Framed in burnished ambers, caramel colored, with gentled oranges and pops of red. Pumpkin patches covering the corners of the corn field, gloating among the maize kernels. Cherished sun stealing part of the magic, bright at the tops of hills, sneaking into cornfields. Alluring autumn, cascading in waves of sweet gourds, pumpkins, and tasty harvest. Wafting cinnamon and magical nutmeg magic bringing pies and sugar crust to life. Laughter of children touching souls as it escapes into the fall’s sweet twilight. Gentle rain of leaves upon our faces, reds, and yellow’s, loving us as only fall can do. For some reason, fall poetry makes me crave baked goods! Maybe it was the mention of "Wafting cinnamon and magical nutmeg, etc..." Or maybe I just have caramel and pumpkin-spice on the brain! lol Focus, Rhona, focus! There was more to the poem than food... Oh yes, I love the way you opened the poem, "World delighted with autumn tans..." and continued to draw out all the color variations of fall. Such a happy picture. And the ending was perfect, too, "loving us as only fall can do"...

I cannot "do" fall without thinking of the harvest which leads to the crust, and the cinnamon, and the sugar, and the pumpkin pies, and the squash baked in globs of tasty sweet honey and brown sugar and....where was I?
