All Hallows' Eve

When the trees drop gold and fire And the spirits roam the world Kids go out and do not tire 'Till all candy is unfurled. Grown-ups play but do not see The magic world like you and me. Long ago they knew it too. I know, I know - It sounds untrue! Among the spirits, on their hind legs, Walk two kittens and their pets: One black, one white Named Dark and Bright. Each wears a hood Of the opposite colour. Both hold a broomstick - One no longer than the other. Unimportant at first glance, The cats possess great power: They meow, sing and dance, And turn seconds into hours. They stick to the sick, Dying and weary To prolong their night And make it less dreary.
