David this piece of yours brings back memories. I once dreamed that there was a black spider crawling on my chest and was making its way to my face. The dream was so terrorizing that I woke at that very moment to feel a black spider crawling on my face. I grabbed it quickly and I felt its fangs try to cut into my skin, it hurt but I dropped it and carefully got some tissue put it in a box and send it on his way outside. It was a surreal moment I will never forget, and even now I have goosebumps.

Grizzly stuff indeed Michael, and the truth is, humanity has a terrible dark side which knows no lows, I try in some of my posts to point it out, not because I like it, but because it is real, I’ve seen some very disturbing videos myself, perhaps my rat/snake monoku is an allusion to the horrific situation’s people find themselves in purely by accident, thank you for the visit and visceral comment, cheers David

I definitely do not like rats, I know what they can do to a human being I wrote a narrative on Ted Kucklisnki a hit man for the mob who use to tie p his victims and film them while being tortured and eaten by rats true story. If you go on YouTube you can actually see part of the footage where the rats are eating a corpse, really disgusting. Snakes I do not have a problem with. Enjoy reading your alarm call today Cheers my friend...

Sometimes out of the box similies are difficult to compile in such wise and short way and you are master in it

Thank you very much Silpika, I do love the concise measured approach, sometimes thinking outside the box can be most rewarding, cheers David

The reality worse than the nightmare, wow! I hope your reality isn't as bleak, David. Are you preparing for tomorrow? Biden & Eire's P.M. met for a luncheon and Biden quoted Irish poets, not because he is Irish, but because Irish poets are the BEST! ;) nudge, nudge

Haha we do have some good poets over here Anaya, (out of my league) I think Biden has a little Irish ancestry in him, but then again so did Obama? Indeed reality is sometimes worse than the nightmare, yes all set for the Craic tomorrow, we do like to celebrate St Patrick’s Day, (drown the shamrock) cheers David

If a dream lingers after we wake, is it still a dream? Rats are ugly; snakes are beautiful, but I'd prefer not dreaming of or waking with either of the two. Your mind is... I'll leave that analysis to Daniel. Take two aspirin, but don't go back to sleep for a while yet, David. ;-)

Haha yeah not much hope for my mind Lin! Pity Daniel didn’t prescribe me something (anything) but I have a secret wonder drug. It’s called a G&T lol! Some people keep pet Rats (no thanks) they can stay in my monokus, cheers David

What is worse, the rat or the snake? The nightmare or the waking dream? Interesting one to ponder

Definitely the rattler Dilly, and the nightmare, of waking us shaking it’s tail, this scenario may or may not have happened, in reality, the rat is breakfast (toast now) cheers David

Hello David, I think you have captured the disorienting transition from dreams to reality with these short lines. The contrast between the initial perception of a harmless rat and the realization of a menacing rattlesnake is both captivating and thought-provoking. I believe you evoked a sense of unease and introspection, highlighting the complexities of the subconscious mind. I love interpreting dreams and poems. Sorry, forgive me it is the Counselor in me. - Blessings, Daniel

Heya Daniel, all crazy poets need counselling and I’m no different lol! I had this idea of the rat waking up underneath a rattlesnake at dawn, believing it had slept under a rope, but the nightmare scenario took hold as it’s simple stirring motion made the snake rattle quite easily! then I embedded it all in a rhyming monoku, I know I need a psychiatrist that can prescribe me something lol! You’re very brave tackling this one, and have given me an insight into my own mind, cheers David
