10th ANNUAL 

INTERGENERATIONAL POETRY CONTEST

a person aged from 13 to 19 years. I am, no longer twelve adolescence I am youth Adolescence and I am in a transitional stage I am a young person Why? Is everyone always telling me what to do I'm a minor Adolescence and I am in a transitional stage Nothing more finer I'm thirteen This world so mean I have a mind Stop hovering over me all the time I'm fourteen I'm being held in a dream Why does the world and America mistreat me I have a voice, I have a choice No really Adolescence and I am in a transitional stage My psychological development Left on the table Generally occurs during the period From puberty to legal adulthood At fifteen I'm being held in a dream Adolescence is usually associated with the teenage years Stop hovering over me all the time I'm sixteen Not a baby Now at seventeen Four years from being a man a woman A junior in high school Why does the world and America mistreat me No really Adolescence and I am in a transitional stage My psychological development Left on the table Generally occurs during the period From puberty to legal adulthood At eighteen I have the same body parts and mind set as adults And yet in me you do not trust I'm being held in a dream Adolescence is usually associated with the teenage years Stop hovering over me all the time All these rules do as I say not as I do How can I as a child do right when you as an adult do wrong I am, no longer twelve adolescence I am youth Adolescence and I am in a transitional stage I am a young person Why?
