Listen to poem:
Back when I was a teenager
I was probably normal
Tempestuous
Alone and misunderstood
When I picked up a pen
And let it all out
No holds barred
And the release felt good
That’s when I discovered poetry
I could turn the worst feelings into
Something tangible
Something valuable
Sometimes even beautiful
I simply got addicted
It was very much like
Finding solace in a glass of wine
I found my high in converting
Losses into wins
In the long run
Poetry proved to be
My truest and most faithful friend
To me poems were and are still
Ever so similar to
Sacred waterlilies born of mud
