Psychedelic January 25 I let my mind swim until merely my components gaze longingly past the bottle's content losing self to become defined, etched in glass my hands never in the frame nor lips wet as I imbibe insanity tempered with water circling I drop into the pool generate circular tides that rise and recede out of respect for the gravity of my situation chairs, tables, drift in, drift out they are you you are I I thought I missed you called your name just hours before darkness fell now light cleanses my eyes lucidity washes clean my decisions I'm who I was in reverse swimming against tides that carry me home until exhaustion transforms hard floor to soft bed where a pained head rests crushing somewhat the remnants of a pained mind

Dear dd, another one of your excellent poems that truly is so very impressive and soulfully moving. I love the way your poem flows and what stood out for me the most was “ they are you you are I I thought I missed you called your name just hours before darkness fell” in those moments, sometimes we do think so many things and feel so much .. and that last line speaks volumes! What a heartfelt interpretation of the art! As always impressed! Fave this is! Sending you light always

You're so kind Ink, your fave has made me smile. I was quite pleased with this poem but only realised when I looked at it again the next day it was quite intense. I have entered it into the psychedelic contest - it's a bit of a angle but I'll see whether it pans out. Thank you for stopping by with your supportive words, appreciated

D1lly, a psychological thriller! You very clearly get into the mind and thoughts of the painter. There is a lot of pain here and a mild but definite contrast of thought patterns at times. It's a fabulous salute to impressionism and to a great painter. I saw a self portrait recently at the Rijksmuseum. I can see why you would pick his work as an inspiration. Wishing you well and hope you get many smiles out of each day!

Thank you Duke, I love to write ekphrasis and Van Gogh and Edvard Munch are two I've used as inspiration many times. It's almost like magic is hidden in the brush strokes and paint full of emotion. It is interesting to dive straight in, particularly as the painters spent hours on each element. They placed more than paint I'm sure. Thanks for stopping by
