Abigails World

Listen to poem:
Within her silence there rages a roar, The world of Abigail we shall explore… A beautiful child, ever so cute to see, She is 4 and a half a perfect age to be… When she is sad or hurt and full of pain, To her mother, she runs trying to explain… Very few words come out maybe one, She utters 'mommy' she has said a ton… Always humming to herself a broken tune, A ballerina twirling in her contained cocoon… Abigail is always happy and so full of life, Without a clue upon her struggling strife… She looks up to the air shaking her head, Her thoughts are emotions ready to spread… She can repeat phrases so amazing to hear, No communication as her voice can disappear… She laughs and she yells to her own delight, Like a candle in the rain burning so bright… She plays by herself in a world all her own, Hugging Abigail and the place she has shown. Abigail is my cousin's daughter...she is four & half who has full Autism... Abigail has a twin brother, Logan...who teases his sister while having fun... Hi WW, every child deserves to experience tender affection from their nearest and dearest- and your loving observations prove that you do love Abigail for herself. I have a friend whose grandson is autistic - so I know a little about it. Thank you for your heartfelt poem! Warm regards, Aqua M.

So well written WW, I sense a really delightful child who is locked in her cocoon, an apt description of autism. Glad to see she can enjoy life to some degree, it's tragic how some autistic children act out their frustration with aggression. Thanks for sharing!
