A Winter Walk

Last night's snow a white blanket on the ground The beauty of it does my heart astound In coats, scarves and wooly hats we wrap up tight And venture out to see the glory of the winter light Across the pond on summer's bridge we walk Sharing the sights of winter with our girlish talk Oh, the geese and ducks are parading, hear their hungry cry Some grain may soften winter's harshness by and by We toss it at their feet with a happy heart And hope this days small reprieve we may impart

Very charming story behind the painting, and told in excellent style. My only critique is that it seems a tad forced in the rhymes. Only a very little. It is still a very nice poem and one I was pleased to have had the honour of judging.

Reads like a winner to me..Enjoyed reading your interpertation of the painting today..Thanks for the visit to my page..I looked up your madrone tree and it seems to be similar to sycamore and paper birch that shed their bark as well except their underneath is not red..The sycamore turns a very white underneath and the paper birch seems to be white as well..The paper birch is mostly in lowlands close to water and the sycamore seems to like a wet place also..Sara
