Notes About The Poem

Written on 6th March 2025.

A Walk On The Beach

The most peaceful time of day is just before sunrise when you are alone and have the whole world to yourself.
Quote by poet.

At dawn I went for a stroll along the lonely beach, waves were lapping gently on the pebbly shoreline. Then there it was before me a golden orb; sunrise.

Thank you very much Karen, Often when I went on holiday I'd be up at 04.00 and go for a walk, had the whole beach to myself, years of shift work have put my body clock out of sync lol. Tom

Tom, you're making me smile a lot with this latest batch of poems in praise of a bit of solitude with nature. We are indeed very small but have the ability to see a great deal.

Thank you very much Duke, I love being with family and friends but also love those alone moments to just reflect and take in everything around me, be it the beach or the countryside. Tom

Thank you very much Michael, I'm happy you enjoyed it. I was happy with the poem but dropped a clanger with the title, it should have been only three words, you live and learn. Have a great weekend. Tom

Only 3 lines was needed Tom, you’ve said all that needs saying, any more would be too much, quote is quite powerful too, I can only see a 1st place in the contest, cheers David

The beach early in the morning is wonderful. I feel such zen there. I love children, but I want to hear the waves instead, at that hour. I read my paper, never my phone, a coffee beside me and warm sand to sit on, what a lovely way to start the day, peace, beauty and tranquility. Your poem brought back nice memories. for me. I enjoyed it's imagery so much. All day I will think of your words as I look out the window at another snowy day.

I love to watch the sunrise and wait for the birds to awake to the new dawn. First one, and then the whole tree full breaks into excited cheerful greetings to the new day! I used to live near the San Francisco Bay as a child, it was beautiful and peaceful as well as safe way back then in the early to mid-sixties. I witnessed sunsets over the Pacific Ocean, but never once had I seen the sunrise. Still, I love to see that golden orb rise over the mountains here in the SW desert, it is beautiful.

Thank you very much BJ, they are the wonders of creation that I never get tired of seeing. I know exactly what you mean, the sunrise over the mountains, first you have a deep red sky then a tiny bead of light that rises into a golden orb bringing forth the start of a new day. Tom

Thank you very much IE, I'm happy you enjoyed it, it's a scene I never get tired of looking at. I always see it as the birth of a new day and wonder what challenges it will bring. I've seen hundreds over the years, I can't lie in like some can, I have to get up and not burn daylight lol. Tom

I know exactly what you mean, Tom. It's the same with me when I remember how many stars filled the sky when I lived in Colorado. I can't see them anymore... such is the problem with city lights.

Thank you Lin, because of work my body clock is set to 04.00, even when I'm away I have to get up, but the benefits are amazing sunrises, when I was in Turkey I used watch it rise over the mountains, those moments stay with you forever. Tom
