A Velvet Agony

Your lips would shame the velvet, spun for kings Your eyes to blame, the daggers in my heart The wait to taste your love is absolute As pain destroys my soul, leaves but a part I count the days, as petals on a rose You’ll save me from the thorns when you return And though, my tears, as red as drops of blood Are falling dear, they cannot ease the burn Your lips would shame the velvet, spun for kings I dream the day to kiss them is at hand My soul restored by gazing in your eyes The beating of my heart, at your command
