A Simple Valentine
Hair soft to touch, love fresh as mist,
But your flesh wants to know it's kissed,
Your hand in mine, a friend that's true,
It's simple what I want from you.
Smile nurtures poem, sparks new rhyme,
Don't even think who paid last time,
Plain English practiced (as we dare)
Reminds us both how much we care.
Each dawn's a portal to your soul:
Restraint's required! I'd eat you whole
If only me with nothing new:
Scheherazade still lives in you!
