I do find it funny that people feel compelled to argue with poetry. People should be able to express how they feel, even if it's controversial, as long as they aren't directly harming others with their words.

Love it L.M.H The golden rule of conversation I was always told is Never discuss or talk about religion or politics with family or close friend's Unless you do not wish to loose them Because as you say it will call a ruckus no matter how much insight your argument for or against doth possess

As a general rule, I think you are probably right, Darlene, unless you write religious- or political-oriented poetry. Then, people can read you or not, as they like.
