It was her rough edges which caught my eye. Like a raw diamond I fell for her unpolished beauty. - - - - - - - - - - - - © 13th May 2017

Paul, a multi-faceted and scintillating write. Natural and unpretentious beauty has an earthy quality to it that is captivating and genuine. Just about anyone, or anything, can be made to look good with enough fluff, buff, putty, lacquer and polish.. lol! But, unpolished beauty is real. I love this write Paul, it's so authentically romantic. Warmest wishes.. ~Susan

Thank you, Susan. It is true that beauty attracts, but physical beauty on its own is not enough. On my part I much prefer the original rather than the artificial presentation!! ~ Warm regards // paul

A rough diamond is beautiful, let alone a polished one, Darlene! Thank you for stopping by my friend. Regards // paul

It was the same for me. And the diamond in your poem has an extra twist for me, since living in South Africa now. The biggest local diamonds still have a stolen life in the British crown jewels. But I am settling for my own South African diamond very happily. Many wishes, Kai

This I love, that imagery. Beautiful analogy. What Seeker said, inglorious imperfections indeed :) And maybe even because of them.

Beauty is hidden under the layers like you say - The eye of the lucky beholder is the one who will perceive and treasure it. We have a diamond cutter friend and he would totally agree with you. Unpolished is beautiful. Thanks for the insight Paul - Definitely a shining 7 (polished or unpolished)...Maria
