A Rainbow In Your Tears

Not one to smile when you are blue Or welcome storm that sparks your fears But every time I’m there for you I find God’s promise in your tears. At times though tears flow strong and fast And feelings nosedive like a kite, The rainbow’s promised colors last Whenever I can hold you tight. Our feelings turn from night to day. Despite our prejudice toward joy, Blind lust for life of only play... No work, no pain, means no Tolstoy. Don’t dream of new tranquility, If you aspire to paradise, Embrace instead humility And see afresh with God’s own eyes. And follow Christ in washing feet, His yoke is light if you would dare, You’ll find your lifetime goals complete In purposed faith that shows you care. In serving, not in being served, We all escape this life’s regrets, And heaven comes as if deserved, God’s Grace protects our souls from threats. Brian Johnston February 5, 2016
