DIZAIN EXPLAINED (this is a partial definition of what I found at Soup for this form):

Ten lines rhymed a b a b b c c d c d; usually (though not by definition) iambic pentameter. This is a Dizain chain. This is originally a French form and initially would have been made up of eight syllablelines, but later ten syllable lines were also used. The few examples of this form in England did prefer Iambic Pentameter, but that's purely up to the poet. The rhyme scheme is: a. b. a. b. b. c. c. d. c. d.

The struggles of this world can cause such strain on all of us today. Calamity may pour down on us as a rain of pain and drench with sorrow all humanity. The world seems upside down. Insanity may grip the minds of those with most to dread. Might terror reign if people have no bread to feed the pain their stomachs start to feel or pain of loss and burying their dead? God, help us all. Life now seems so surreal. April 7, 2020

Andrea, This poem, 'A Rain of Pain' reminds me of a passage from Luke in the New Testament. 'There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth, when ye shall see Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, and all the prophets, in the kingdom of God, and you yourselves thrust out.' Happy Easter. -Richard

You dizain is heavy-duty just as the current times it refers to with dramatic angst as is fitting of a fact-based poem. I didn't post my dizain because I thought it had to be 'delightful' which is a struggle with '..ain' end rhymes. So good to be reading you, Andrea. Have you a clue what I've been up to lately? Me, either. Love, CayCay

Nice write! Not upside down yet, but TILT is considerable. Why doesn't Bojo marry his fiance? Aloha! Rico

Andrea, the collective pain and sorrow is artistically expressed in you stunning poem. The intensity burns in lines like this; 'Insanity may grip the minds of those with most to dread.' Your bring the real feel to the surreal in this profound piece. Best wishes for a win and warmest wishes for you health and safety.. ~Susan

Andrea, you're right about the world seeming upside down. This is a very timely write and captures the mood of the day, sadly. We hear of death tolls rising daily yet can do nothing about it except shelter at home, wear masks, wash our hands and try to comfort one another via electronic means. God help us all, indeed.
