Notes About The Poem

A Quiet Place That I Sought

When I was down in the dumps I longed to be away from the din of the world And a quiet place I sought Nature has always been my refuge Amid the clump of trees where the wind caresses the leaves Where birds twitter and trill their songs Like a hermit I sat, my eyes closed, my body lazing My mind, open to the soft vibrations around I took a deep breath inhaling the fragrance of flowers And let the quietude envelop my being Gliding through the layers of my consciousness Dancing to the beats of my inner symphony I let myself swim in the ocean of stillness I felt the tranquil touch of an unseen presence I heard a caring voice from somewhere A faint voice quite reassuring, so near Within me the wider Life emerged And the lesser life finally submerged I experienced true joy within Peace filled, drowning all my tribulations And I knew it was heaven sent! _________________________________ .19.2022 A Quiet Place Poetry Contest Sponsored by Mystic Rose Rose

Ani, I must thank you for finding time to read and comment on this even in the midst of a busy schedule. Each time I spend too much of my time here, I experience a kind of prick of conscience, for I am a mother and a house wife more than a poet ! I can understand you.... but don't keep away from writing for long as there is a great poet in you seeking to soar high ! Thank you for your lovely comment!

Lovely, peaceful place to be, Valsa. The mind sometimes wanders, but the spirit brings us back and heals the aches of our souls. I enjoyed reading this poem my friend. Hugs, Bill

Reading your poem has sent me into a state of tranquility, dear Valsa. I relish your imagery of a quiet wooded area awash with the gentle sound of birds and the sweet fragrance of flowers. I really like your concept of the lesser life submerging and the wider life emerging, and my favorite line is "Dancing to the beats of my inner symphony". What a beautiful way to begin my day in a heaven sent state of quietude. A fave for me; thank you for sharing. Grace and peace ~ John

Valsa, when surrounded by a magnificent landscape, you emanate inner joy and tranquility. This sort of place that you describe is well-known for its abundance of peace and quiet. Please try to take a look at my poem "  Non-dual Awareness " I'm interested to know what you think. Thank you, dear poetess friend.

I have the impression that there is a film about a quiet place, but your poem is completely different. It evokes serenity, a calm that soothes the soul.
