A Quick Cup

I see it in my dream
I see a steady blue light.
My REM force increases,
Then suddenly it ceases.

Blue light begins to blink.
Though twitching, I'm awake.
My mouth is dry, I cannot think.
Wobbly on my feet, I shake.

The kitchen comes to view.
Once there, I see it shining.
My coffee maker is new.
The steaming process is refining.

So uncomplicated! I don't need trig.
I am loving my new Keurig.

Aww, this sure made me smile. What is it about that warm cup of brown liquid in the morning that is so nice to wake up to? Maybe it is that intoxicating smell. I use to have a Keurig and loved it. Your second stanza is my favorite, that I can relate to.

I love coffee and tea, with equal intensity. That first morning cup of coffee is so energizing. An awesome poem, Hilda. :)

Thank you for enjoying this poem. Coffee or tea. Just don't combine the two.

Nice poem, I don't know anything about coffee makers, so there was a lot of suspense for me as I figured out what was going on, as the poem for me went from heavy to light, finishing with the great trig/Keurig rhyme.

The blue light in the dream is the indicator button on the Keurig. When it blinks, the water Is hot and ready for the pod to go in. It takes a minute. More lazy living. Thanks for reading the poem.

Dear hilda i am enjoying the rhymes throughout this light hearted poem that flows so flawlessly. And i can tell you love coffee. I especially love the lines in second stanza. I feel the same when i crave for chocolates. Sending you light always. Always a pleasure reading your poems woven on different subjects.

Thank you. My poems do tend to be eclectic, which is a word I always associate with an antique shop. Yet I feel young. Perhaps my poems are saying more than I intend.

The many faces of tea. Tea is good too and green tea supposedly helps metabolism.

I am another Keuring lover. And the variety of K cups is awesome. When I moved to SF, in 1967, the city smells of roasted coffeebeans very early in the a.m. And I learned all about coffee varieties then. There wasno Starbuck’s, a great poem. Coffee lover, Pangie xxxxx

Not too quick, I hope. A good cup of joe should be savored. Something I look forward to every morning, also...altho I'm a Mr. Coffee guy, myself.

I'm either--or. The taste and aroma are most important. I haven't gotten into flavored coffee, but if I did, it would probably be hazelnut. Your comment adds to the debate.

Hi HIlda; love it! Your poem and coffee. The best things in life are often the least complicated. Einstein said: "when someone comes up with a unified theory, it will be something he can explain easily to his grandmother" -- or something to that effect. Not awake enough to look up the actual quote~ need another cup of coffee. Blessings my friend.

Lol. It is one cup or two cups. I usually get two cups, or in my opinion, a Vente. Have a nice weekend and thanks.

When we are exhausted, a cup of coffee can relieve us tremendously. The sweet aroma of fresh brewed coffee is intoxicating. Beautifully written Hilda.

Thank you. Yes, the aroma adds a lot to the ambience. A poem could be written just about the aroma.

True for coffee addicts. Coffee aids in writing poetry. Do they drink coffee in Israel, or do they like tea like the British.

Thank you fellow coffee drinker. Coffee wakes me up in the morning, and if I'm foolish enough to drink it midday, I'm wide awake at night.
