A Prayer For Light
Lost in darkness, lost in distress . . . so lost
that silence shrieks and madness clutches me.
As if into a deep abyss I’m tossed.
I need to find the path to set me free -
a path that leads me out into the light
where whole again and happy I may be.
So in my misery – black as the night -
I whisper softly as a prayer I say:
Please, God, let peace return and set things right.
I wait and wait, continuing to pray.
I have to trust this darkness will not stay!
