A Pool of Tadpoles
In large numbers they swim
in the pool of water they collide
struggling over mosquito larvae
biting each other over scarce food
Swim, swim and fight, fight daily
over larvae and whatever comes
and drops looking like food
They have one aim in struggling life
to snatch, snatch, eat, eat and grow
into what all of them may not be aware
blind fate has it hidden away from them
But enemies are many in the pool of water
a permanent home it is not for any
the pool looks secure yet it’s open shield
when tadpole-eater comes, all hide
None is aware that today, not tomorrow
transition to something more real creeps in
transition to frog-hood, not tadpole-hood
