forgotten by time a playground of cobwebs thousands of footprints I made in the sand a lifetime ago once so alive with activity and merriment now a deserted place haunted by lingering ghosts the silence, deafening reverberating e c h o e s of laughter and noise by neighborhood children forever lie deep asleep what happened to all the roughhousing noise? days of innocence long gone this place I remember so well isn't what it used to be; signs of neglect everywhere. I walk through playground of cobwebs... what happened to all the noise? where is everybody? a shout into the void returns not so much as... a faint echo.

Eerie. I get excited when I drive through neighbourhoods and I can see children at normal, active play ... not tethered to a device. This is a real thing. Childhood obesity is on the rise in my part of the world. Something previously unimagined. Congratulations on your writing!

This has a very deep sense of melancholy, missing loved ones in the past. Well written, Edward.
