A Picture On a Shelf
A picture of me, I was young and fair
Soft blemish free skin, and eyes of blue
It couldn’t see the soul that lived there
Or true feelings that couldn’t show thru.
For while we are young, the shell is new
We care how we look, how we style our hair
But everything changed as the years flew
A new world opened up, beyond compare.
As your face began to age, wisdom grew
Your looks were not a measure of your soul
If only that picture could show the real you
See the heart within, that should be your goal.
Tho new pictures might show an image of you
Look deep in the eyes, your soul will shine thru!
