A Picture A picture that shows who you are Is all that is shown to others No matter what happened that one day It is all that others know you by Unless you’re close, to show you Otherwise, you are only that one version of you No choice in the matter, just go along But maybe I don’t want to Maybe I want to be defined by me Not defined by what someone else Has labeled me as I want to show the real me But I don’t know how Or if I have the strength to do so Written on December 16, 2019 Honorable Mention in The Gem That Slipped Through The Cracks sponsored by Edward Ibeh

I really understand what this poem is about and I really think it shows how people judge and gain perception based on first impressions of someone. It's not fair and it can hard to show people who are but at the end of the day it only matters what you think of yourself. I really enjoyed this one because it can be easily applied to everyone's life.
