A Perfect Christmas Tree

A perfect Christmas tree in the woodland Beyond the meadow, I’ve had my eye on it But cutting in the woodland has been banned A perfect Christmas tree in the woodland, But things are not going exactly as I planned So, I’m struggling to keep my holiday spirit A perfect Christmas tree in the woodland Beyond the meadow, I‘ve had my eye on it. So, I’m struggling to keep my holiday spirit But things are not going exactly as I planned Beyond the meadow, I’ve had my eye on it, A perfect Christmas tree in the woodland, But cutting in the woodland has been banned And I’m not about to get myself Xmas canned. written December 18, 2021 [a trionet, a type of poetry I invented, combining the triolet and the 14-line sonnet.]

I enjoy that you keep coming back to this thought "A perfect Christmas tree in the woodland Beyond the meadow, I‘ve had my eye on it." - you write like I think.

Thanks for the compliment, Caren. Sometimes they just pop up in my mind, sort of like you. I like to keep it real. Merry Christmas!

Wonderful combination of forms. Pity you'll have to stay without that tree.

It is really cool this form of yours, Milt. I really like it. I combine two forms and did not get my form accepted by Soup . There were a few pending that did not get chosen either but my Andaree form at least got on the list. I have seen many Soupers using cool forms. I wonder if they just never submitted them to soup or if they got turned down??

I don't know, Andrea. I am looking for a subject/theme that will lend itself to your Andaree form. Emile uses it frequently. I will one of these days because I really like it. Thanks for your compliment and encouragement. BTW, I watched your dance with your students on FB. Nice! Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you!

Very creative form Milt, well displayed in this poem. Holidays can be extra challenging as we age and deal with loss. Peace be with you during this season, your Texas friend, Bill

Thanks so much, Bill. Anymore I don't even put up a Christmas tree. I've become an ol' Scrooge! (chuckling)

We moved from fresh pine trees to artificial many years ago. Only hurdle now is getting UP into the attic to bring it down....Delice

I understand perfectly, Delice. At my age decorating for Christmas is just too much work! (chuckling)

Some time ago we shifted to an artificial tree, but I have wonderful memories of going out to cut one when I was a child. Everyone had a real tree back then. Now, you can buy the artificial ones already decorated!!!
