A Note In the Wind-Nw

Though the west wind is, often, wild, It blows, sometimes, miraculously mild. It seemed I waited for such a tender time, To my stubborn friend to send my rhyme; A friendship that, once, divinely developed, Why by fogs of misjudgments got enveloped? Thick relationships, they say, once, get split, Ozone-layers-like harmful rays they emit; His smiles turned grievous grim glances, That might tear me apart if he got chances; I froze as hard as an ice-rock for long, Within, yet, an urge for reunion did gong; I remembered the golden days of childhood, On each other's terraces, in buoyancy we stood; Sending paper airplanes, in the wind, with words written, Such as: April Fool, Halloween Ghost... and hid like kitten; Later, like pigeons at flight, when we met face to face, Tickling and pinching found directions in a fun-filled race; Where is that inner freedom like autumn leaves flown now? We need to find peace in the roots of friendship anyhow; It's hence, though with reluctance, I initiated the process, My paper plane, like a jet, toward his window, did progress; It had one of best rhymes on friendship written by me, I wanted him, reading it, my longing-filled heart to see; I was shocked when for long there was no response, My planes, yet, toward his house did advance; Swiftly, through my window, later, a plane did thud, Unwrapping, I could find - sorry - written in blood; Feelings, like tempest or tornado overpowered, Within, like a chrysanthemum, friendship flowered; It did not take long to hold each other in tears-filled embrace, Thenceforth, within us, for hatred, there was no place...! 30 October 2022 A Note In The Wind Poetry Contest Sponsored by: Charles Messina
